"Happy New Year"

We all say it.
What does it mean?
Well for me...
I'll settle for
Being able to say
Same time
Same place
Next year.
Even if it means
I'm speaking to myself.
For that will mean
I am still speaking
And breathing.
So what if I'm 'home alone'
Keeping myself company
Even if it means
Me saying
'Happy New Year'
To myself.
Same old, same old.
The calendar and clock
May move on
But some things never change.
