Despite what everyone's expecting
I can't think of a piece to write
No seriously, I'm struggling
Try as hard as I might.
Why should I churn out something
Just 'cos it's National Poetry Day
Expected to scribble a piece
A poet having his say.
I could conjure up some sort of rhyme
Decided to give it a miss
I don't make up words to order
Are you taking the piss?
Just like a dog's not just for Christmas
But a companion for all-year round play
Me making up run-of-the-mill shit poem
Ain't just for National Poetry Day.
